Zimbabwe gambling dens

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

The act of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the current time, so you could think that there would be very little affinity for patronizing Zimbabwe’s casinos. In fact, it appears to be working the other way around, with the desperate market conditions leading to a higher eagerness to bet, to try and find a quick win, a way out of the difficulty.

For most of the people living on the abysmal nearby wages, there are 2 common styles of betting, the state lottery and Zimbet. As with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lottery where the chances of winning are remarkably tiny, but then the winnings are also remarkably large. It’s been said by financial experts who understand the subject that the majority do not purchase a card with the rational assumption of winning. Zimbet is founded on one of the domestic or the United Kingston soccer divisions and involves predicting the outcomes of future games.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other hand, pander to the extremely rich of the country and tourists. Up till recently, there was a exceptionally substantial sightseeing industry, founded on safaris and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic collapse and connected bloodshed have cut into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s casinos, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree gambling hall, which has just the slots. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just one armed bandits. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which have gaming tables, slot machines and video machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which has gaming machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s casinos and the previously talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a pools system), there are also two horse racing tracks in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the market has deflated by beyond 40% in the past few years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has come to pass, it isn’t well-known how healthy the tourist business which is the foundation for Zimbabwe’s gambling halls will do in the in the years to come. How many of them will be alive until conditions get better is simply not known.
