Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 tables.
