Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino betting is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, features 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that contains many amenities accompanying the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
